Air travel with a powered wheelchair needs advance planning. Acceptance depends on the exact chair, battery and airline arrangements for each flight. We do not describe an XSTO battery as universally “airline approved”.

Speak to the airline before booking

The UK Civil Aviation Authority advises passengers to give airlines their mobility aid’s details in advance. Provide its make, model, dimensions, weight and full battery information. Explain whether the chair folds or separates into parts, and bring its operating manual.

Ask the airline to confirm its requirements for your particular chair and battery on every flight, including connections. Check how the chair will be handled and where you will transfer to airport or aircraft seating.
